Limited Capacity seats available

This presentation will provide a summary of how changes to the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists were influenced by emerging ethical issues in Canada as well as in other parts of the world. The struggles experienced by the CPA Committee on Ethics in finding ways to deal with these issues will be outlined, as well as some of the specific changes made in response to them. Particular attention will be given to issues that have emerged regarding culture and diversity, definitions of "client," balancing responsibilities to third parties and partially- or fully-mandated clients, balancing responsibilities to the individual and to society, uses of technology, new research guidelines, and changes in models for training in ethical thinking and decision making. The presentation will provide time for participants to raise and discuss their opinions, reactions and questions.
